Hello

My name is Padma Panigrahi.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and 5 Elements Acupuncturist.

Yoga Teacher

BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, Lic Ac, BacC

LLB (Hons) Law, Pg Dip Legal Practice

My Story

I come from a family of acupuncturists and medics so perhaps my own path to qualifying as an acupuncturist is not surprising.  My interest in health, wellbeing, yoga, and Eastern medicine is deeply rooted in my upbringing.  Despite being medical professionals working within the NHS, my parents often turned to Ayurvedic or Chinese medicine to treat my siblings and me. This deep respect for holistic and natural remedies never left me. Little did I know that, many years later, I would use acupuncture and yoga to support me through my path to motherhood which was a long and stressful one.

I studied at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading and obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in acupuncture.  Since qualifying, I have continued to attend further specialist courses to enhance and further my expertise. Prior to relocating to South Oxfordshire, I ran a busy multibed clinic in Berkshire. I also spent a number of years volunteering for the charity, My Cancer My Choices and working within the NHS Healthspace in Bracknell. This involved treating cancer patients, primarily to alleviate symptoms caused by their cancer treatment and also to support them emotionally and mentally.

I am a member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (AAC) and am fully insured by them. Every member of AAC has been trained in acupuncture to a degree level and must abide by their codes of professional conduct and safe practice. Additionally, each member must carry out 12 hours of Continuing Professional Development training each year.

Providing holistic support and therapy to others is only possible if I am also supported on a mental, emotional, and spiritual level.  I do this by regularly practicing meditation, asana, and pranayama and engaging in other practices to soothe and regulate my nervous system. I also have regular peer support and supervision sessions.

I am also a qualified solicitor and continue my legal practice alongside acupuncture.

Cultural Appreciation

Acknowledging and honouring the roots of the therapies that I provide is hugely important. Both yoga and acupuncture are wisdom traditions and ancient practices which originated in India (yoga) and China (acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine).  I am deeply grateful for receiving this knowledge and being able to treat and pass it on to others.
